LENNON GUITAR SOLD

One of John Lennon's early guitars has sold for twice its estimate at auction. The Hofner Senator guitar was expected to go for more than £100,000 in the Christie's auction, but the final purchase price was £205,250.
The guitar was bought by the Beatle from Hessy's Music Store in Liverpool in 1958 and was sold with a copy of a letter from George Harrison dated 1982 which says that it is one of Lennon's early guitars. The auction was well attended and also attracted many phone and online bidders.
