DOVES FOR MERCURY?

Doves may be set to follow fellow Mancunians Elbow into Mercury Prize history, according to bookies. The Mercury Prize has become one of the most sought after gongs in the industry and Doves are now joint favourites (with Blackpool’s Little Boots) to scoop this year’s trophy.
Also in the running for the prestigious prize, which has seen Klaxons, Artic Monkeys and Antony and The Johnsons triumph in recent years, are Bat For Lashes, La Roux and Florence and The Machine.
The winner will be announced in September at the awards event.
