SUGABABES SNUB BRITS

Sugababes have said they may boycott the 2009 Brit Awards ceremony if they don’t get nominated for a major award. Having previously won only one 'minor' Brit Award (Best Dance Act in 2003) during their long career, the trio have spoken out about wanting recognition.
In an interview with the Daily Mirror, the only original Sugababes member remaining, Keisha Buchanan, said: “I say this in the most humble way but when you think of pop bands, the Sugababes are definitely up there. I’m proud that Gordon Brown is recognising us (the band were guests of the Prime Minister at Number 10 Downing Street recently), but why not the Brits?”
"We're British for God's sake – and we've done well. Surely we deserve an award after all the hard work we've done?"
Buchanan isn’t the only one to feel left out in the cold by one of the UK’s most prestigious music awards ceremonies. Bandmate Amelle Berrabah added: “I’m telling you, if they don’t nominate us this year, that’s it, I’m done. I’m not going.”
She said that the way the awards are voted for should be looked at: "They should sack all those old men on the board and leave it to the fans to decide. They don’t know what they are talking about.”
The 2009 Brits Awards take place on February 18 2008 and will see The Pet Shop Boys honoured with the Outstanding Contribution to Music Award. Rumours are rife that Kylie Minogue is in talks to host the ceremony.
