Speculation is rife over Coldplay's contractual obligations to controversial record label EMI. The Sun newspaper reported that an EMI source said Coldplay have enough leftover material from their 'Viva La Vida...' recording sessions to release another album soon. According to the newspaper report, the source also said that after releasing an album in 2009 and a compilation, Chris Martin and Co. would be free from their contract with EMI. However, MusicWeek has published an excerpt from an EMI official statement which denies those claims. The statement said: “Contrary to inaccurate reports in The Sun, Coldplay are signed to a long term record deal with EMI and are committed to produce a number of albums. The band's relationship with EMI is both long-term and positive." Which reports are ''true'' only time will tell but it seems we've got at least another two albums to either endure or enjoy, depending on which side of the Coldplay fence you sit. |
