Too Many Man

This song presents a difficult decision: turn it off, never to be heard again, or finish it and achieve a cathartic sense of pride on managing to get to the end with ears intact? I went for the latter but felt no sense of pride. The main emotion was confusion at, firstly, how the grammatically incorrect ‘Too Many Man’ was deemed acceptable as a song title and theme throughout the track, and secondly, how nobody involved in the recording process thought to stop it. There was also a moment of puzzlement when I thought about some of the people involved, most notably Wiley, who have achieved commercial success in their own right and yet still persevered with this project.
A weak beat with terrible samples, coupled with poor rhymes and MC-ing in the verses, topped off with a horrendous chorus hook of “We need some more girls in here; there’s too many man”, repeated more times than would ever be necessary. I may have got it all wrong and this may have been something of a novelty track for Boy Better Know, who really should know better, but if there was any, the novelty soon wore off.
