The Blow Monkeys

Eighties Brit-pop band The Blow Monkeys have reformed, released a new album and lucky Londoners can catch them live this week.
Headed by the infamous Dr Robert, The Blow Monkeys were influenced by new-wave, commercial pop, rock and dance music and occasionally showed a darker side. Their most well-known hits include 1986's 'Digging Your Scene', 'It Doesn't Have to be This Way' from their third album 'She was only a Grocer's Daughter' and, of course, the track made famous by the movie and soundtrack Dirty Dancing - 'You Don't Own Me'.
It may be 27 years since they first formed, but The Blow Monkeys have proven with their new album 'Devil's Tavern', that they certainly are not past making quality music. Released on Monday (September 8), 'Devil's Tavern' comes 18 years since their previous album 'Springtime for the World', which was released shortly before they split in 1990.
Fans can expect to hear both old and new tracks when the four-piece (consisting of Tony Kiley, Mick Anker and Neville Harry as well as the aforementioned Dr Robert) take the stage at London's Jazz Cafe this Wednesday (September 10) and Thursday (September 11).
